The College library is housed in the main building and Library stalk room with more than 72,000 books, some of which are very rare. It subscribes to different 16 newspapers, 75 magazines, research journals and periodicals. Library provides books to the students from economically backward and backward category under book bank scheme. Library is computerized with SOUL Software to provide quick services to its members.

In the era of Information Technology Library provides facilities of audio visual system in the form T. V. and D. V. D. It has a decent reading room for the students to read and study. Reading room also houses 12 computers with internet facility for the use of students.

Ismail Yusuf College’s library is enriched with vast collection of books and in languages English, Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Persian and also Gujarati, Sanskrit in large numbers. Collection includes many rare books : like “Through Congress eyes” by Subhas C. Bose; “Studies in Wittgenstein philosophy” by Prof. G. N. Mathrani; “Constitution of India bill” by Rangaswami A. Iyengar; “Nature in literature” by Edmund Blunden; “Bombay house and home” by Batley Claude; “Lectures on ancient Indian numismatics” by D.R. Bhandarkar; “Living with Lepchas” by John Morris; “Bangladesh documents vol.1 and 2”etc. The periodicals section houses more than 70 journals and magazines and 17 newspapers.

iSLIM library management software is used in the library. Work of data entry and other services using iSLIM are under process.

Central Library

It is located in two buildings. It is spread from room no.s 2 to 4 in the main building with many sections. In room no. 2, there is Urdu-Arabic-Persian books collection with a small reading hall of approximately 60 capacity. There is Hindi and Marathi books collection and few maps kept in a large reading hall of approximately 90 seating capacity at room no.3 and Circulation service and counter for textbooks at room no.4. The e-library section is located with partition and door in room no.3 with 15 computers and periodicals section in the balcony of room no.3 with seating capacity of 10. In the Bhasha bhavan building it occupies most of the ground floor as a single entity in rectangular shape storing reference books, reference sources, out of the syllabus textbooks and other less used collection in Gujarati and Sanskrit. It has a circulation desk chiefly catering to PG students and faculty for reference books and also has a small reading space equipped with tables and chairs with approximately 10 capacity . Total area of both the library sections together is 7444 square feet.

e-library

It is called E-resources section and is located inside room no.3 with separate partition and door for access. It has 15 computers and internet access available for students and faculty to create, save, share and search data/ information for academic purpose. There is also a printer and a photo-copier kept facilitating students and faculty in this section. Library subscribes to INFLIBNET N-LIST database which is used mainly by M.Sc. students and science faculty.

Educational qualification : M.Sc.(Inorganic Chemistry) from Ruia College, Matunga, Mumbai with 63.8%, MLISc from SNDT,Mumbai with 66.7%, passed UGC NET(Library and information Science), studied Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (ADIT) by CDAC,Pune from ACTS, Kolhapur with 78.2% and PG Diploma in Library automation and networking(PGDLAN) from the Centre for distance education, Hyderabad Central University, Hyderabad with 72.5%. Completed 5 days refresher course for government officers at YASHADA, Pune.

Work experience : Worked for more than 25 years as college librarian. Also taught as Contributory teacher at Dept. of Library and information science at Shivaji University, Kolhapur for BLISc and MLISc and also at Ruia college, Matunga, Mumbai for BLISc. Conducted workshops in the college on “Introduction to Library science”; “Electronic library”; and “Library science and applications” combined with the department of History for TYBA-History students.

Celebrated National book week with active participation of students; hold book exhibitions and also celebrating “Wachan prerana divas-15 October” every year in the college. Was in-charge Librarian and DDO of State Central Library, Mumbai for one year and In-charge Director at Directorate of libraries, Maharashtra state government for 2 months.

Worked as Co-ordinator at ARC centre at Sydenham Institute of Management for 4 years. Worked as Subject expert at State government’s Directorate of Higher Education for recruiting librarians on contract basis and CAS committees and also as Joint director’s nominee and VC nominee-subject expert on CAS committees. Done election duties as Presiding officer, and CET duties as Venue officer.

Published one article in Marathi on “Importance of library activities for B.Ed. students” in the Marathi magazine “Bharatiya Shikshan” in 2001.

List Of Database Book : For books and periodicals library uses iSLIM library management software. Library subscribes to N-LIST database which gives access to e-books and e-journals.
